A Sporting Day

A nice ‘lie in’ today to refresh my batteries before going to an ice hockey game with Jim tonight - in luxury, private box, food ,drink and transport - should be good.

After a lazy start, I walked out of the apt and across Central Park to Guggenheim museum of modern art .http://www.guggenheim.org/new-york/visit $18 Entrance, fee but well worth it ! As you get an audio guide, with explanations of most of the works of art, and what the periods are all about.New York 197It took several hours to go around, and up the central Rotunda….after which I went down to the Metropolitan Museum of Art…and just New York 200looking inside the

shop took long enough, never mind the museum and galleries - saved for another day.

I then rushed back to the apt for a free viewing of Manchester United v Marseilles,in the UEFA Champions league, with United winning 1-0.

I was then collected by Jim, and down to the world famous Madison Square Garden,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madison_Square_Garden New York 208 for my first Ice Hockey match.

New York Rangers v New York Islanders - a local derby, and important in the championship.

We started by meeting some of Jim’s people in a nearby bar, along with a group from Nickleodeon - also being entertained by Jim’s company, ‘PartyCity’ http://www.partycity.com/, then it was into Madison Square Garden for the big match. We had a large executive box in the rafters of the stadium with a fantastic view of the pitch (and cold beer and food !) and the fast and furious game was on….eventually after 3 x 20 mins periods,New York 226involving a little, much not too much ‘Rough stuff’ the Rangers won 6-3, everyone was happy !

To finish the night off in style we were collected by Jim’s chauffeur and dropped off at Joe’s apt - waking him up as I arrived back in !

Another long day in NYC !
