Welcome

Welcome to my 2011 follow up to the hugely successful blog of 'Jotown and Wally on the road'.

Here you'll be able to follow my quiet 'lifestyle',as I wander around the highways, byways, mountains and trails of Europe, in my van affectionately called 'Wally', or further afield using metal wings !

If I'm around where you are, and you want me to call - or visit me...just let me know ..

You can follow my adventures and keep in touch by posting messages whilst I am travelling.

For those of you who are returning for the second season then I expect more messages than in 2010....... this year there is a counter of page views at the foot of the page, so I will be watching.....!

Meeting the Relatives…

I was up bright and very early for Joseph to ‘escort’  me to Penn station, and prepare me for a trip out to Long Island, which I managed to do on my ‘own’ ! Amazing ,at my age, and needing my son to show me where to catch a train!

I travelled out to Minneola station,  where I was met by my cousin Bernadette. We briefly stopped at her house before going out to the beaches and sea shore of Long Island.. Very spectacular. Stopped at Jones beach, http://www.longislandexchange.com/jones-beach.html and then for a  long walk along the beach/boardwalk taking in the great Ocean views..

Then back to garden village, where we collected my Aunt Nora, head of the ‘Walsh’ clan in New York, widow of my Uncle Mike, who had come out to New York, at similar times to my Mum and Dad arriving in England.. what tales they  have ?New York 190 We all went out to lunch, before  I stayed with Aunt Nora, reminiscing for the afternoon - what an amazing memory she had, 87yrs ? And still going strong.

I was then again collected by Bernadette and her daughter Marie, and all 3 of us travelled by Rail into the city again, to meet  up for dinner with Brett- Maries’ husband, Jim- Bernadettes husband, and Joseph and Nicola, at a spectacular waterfront restaurant for a great meal.

Eventually arriving home about 10-45p.m….a long day, and ready for a lie in…if I get the chance !
