I was up bright and very early for Joseph to ‘escort’ me to Penn station, and prepare me for a trip out to Long Island, which I managed to do on my ‘own’ ! Amazing ,at my age, and needing my son to show me where to catch a train!
I travelled out to Minneola station, where I was met by my cousin Bernadette. We briefly stopped at her house before going out to the beaches and sea shore of Long Island.. Very spectacular. Stopped at Jones beach, http://www.longislandexchange.com/jones-beach.html and then for a long walk along the beach/boardwalk taking in the great Ocean views..
Then back to garden village, where we collected my Aunt Nora, head of the ‘Walsh’ clan in New York, widow of my Uncle Mike, who had come out to New York, at similar times to my Mum and Dad arriving in England.. what tales they have ? We all went out to lunch, before I stayed with Aunt Nora, reminiscing for the afternoon - what an amazing memory she had, 87yrs ? And still going strong.
I was then again collected by Bernadette and her daughter Marie, and all 3 of us travelled by Rail into the city again, to meet up for dinner with Brett- Maries’ husband, Jim- Bernadettes husband, and Joseph and Nicola, at a spectacular waterfront restaurant for a great meal.
Eventually arriving home about 10-45p.m….a long day, and ready for a lie in…if I get the chance !
