I woke up this morning undecided as to whether to climb an exciting route up Ben Nevis…that was soon decided for me when I looked out to see, very low lying cloud, only a few hundred feet from the ground, covering everything, and with hardly any wind I decided it would probably be here all day, and wanting a good view…I rolled over, and listened to ‘Sounds of the 60’s’ on Radio 2 (0800 to 1000) –if you’ve not listened, try it, it’s great !
I managed to get myself a paper at the campsite shop, although it was the Scottish Daily Mail, not my preferred choice, and returned to Wally to read the paper, and breakfast of boiled eggs and soldiers – whilst England were beating Scotland in the Rugby World Cup –wonder what excuses they’ll come up with this time ?!
I was right, the low cloud remained all day, even causing problems for an RAF rescue helicopter involved in some kind of rescue on the side of Ben Nevis, it spent some time hovering, then going into and out of the cloud all around it , and this was mid afternoon, as I got ready to wander into Fort William for evening mass at St Mary’s, and then back to the campsite for a Scottish supper of Haggis…and chips !!
…and those ‘Record ‘temperatures ??….29.9 C ….in Gravesend…nowhere near Fort William !! ,so I had to settle for ‘Take the Floor’ and ‘Pipeline’ on radio Scotland, before an early night, butties already made for a long day tomorrow..
Sleep well !
