I awoke in Fort William to another dreary day, although the stars had been out earlier and overnight,as I got up ready to make another attempt on the Carn Mor Dearg Arête and up to the top of Ben Nevis, the early morning heavy rain, and black skies decided for me that I should have an ‘easy day’, and so I meandered around, got on t’internet, and booked into the glen Nevis campsite for the luxury of toilets (!), hot showers (!) and electricity,so I could put the fire on !, this is luxury.
I then spent the afternoon reading ‘The Angel’s Game’ by Carlos Ruiz Zafon… quite an enthralling book, by the same writer of ‘The Shadow of the Wind’-which I really enjoyed.
I then had a really nice meal of Medallions of Venison, cooked on braised red cabbage, with crispy veg, followed by a dessert of ‘Crachan’, all washed down with some local beer and red wine !
I was then back to bed early, the forecast doesn’t look brilliant for the morning, so I’ll be stocking up the food locker and fridge, and moving on to Creag Meagidh Nature Reserve, where I intend to climb a few of the mountains around there, and stay on the Reserve,as invited by the estate manager the other week !
So, as Scott once said…..’ I may be some time’….’ but I’ll be back ‘ !!
